Bands for an overbite start further forward in the mouth, near the canines, on the top of the mouth. They stretch back and down to the lower molars on the lower jaw. This helps pull the jaw forward so the top teeth do not protrude as far. These bands connect to the brackets via a hook, often from the top tooth bracket to the bottom tooth bracket.
Plus, rubber bands actually have a job to do.
They assist braces with aligning the teeth and should be handled with care. Move teeth : Rubber bands are used to move teeth. Braces are kind of like a railroad track. The bands are the force that move the teeth along the track.
They are also used to change the way the teeth fit together. I got triangle rubber bands for my braces on only the left side of my mouth day ago. The tooth is pulled farther down from my mouth then it was before.

Your teeth may be tender because your teeth are moving. Pain reliever may help. We all understand that rubber bands are a pain in the rear, but they are a necessary evil for almost every orthodontic patient. Studies have shown that poor rubber band wear can extend treatment significantly.
SO much love for my orthodontist, truly a blessing :) Any questions let me know in the comments! Why are rubber bands used with braces? What is the difference between braces rubber bands? How important are rubber bands when you have braces?
What does the triangle elastics do for braces? They also include the ligatures that attach your brackets to the archwire. Elastics typically pull the jaw forward or backward to align your top and bottom teeth, improving your smile and bite. Orthodontic elastics, also referred to as rubber bands, are small stretchy loops of latex that help move teeth into proper alignment during orthodontic treatment.
Their purpose is to create additional force for tooth movement in any of the three dimensions — up or down, back and forth, side to side — that is more difficult using braces alone. While tiny elastic bands called elastic ligatures affix the archwire to the bracket, interarch rubber bands are large rubber bands that exert pressure on the jaw. Elastic ligatures are available in a wide range of colors.
Then, hook the band around the two lower hooks by your lower canine and molar teeth to form a triangle.
During the course of orthodontic treatment, a patient with braces may have to wear elastic rubber bands to help with the correction of their malocclusion. Rubber bands come in different lengths and colors, and they place forces on the teeth and jaws. These elastics help move your upper teeth back and your bottom teeth forward. Triangle Class II elastic – Like the Class II elastic, this elastic starts from the upper canine hook. It also attaches to a bottom bicuspid hook along with the bottom 1st molar or 2nd molar hook forming a triangle.
MAKE SURE YOU WEAR THEM (yes i sound like a mum). I just went the orthodontist.
